The Hartford Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) provides a variety of services and programs to protect and assist residents and visitors. DHHS has five divisions: Maternal and Child Health, Senior and Community Services, Environmental Health, Disease Prevention, and Health Promotion, and Administration.

Center church soup kitchen/warming center
60 Gold Street
Center Church Warming Center will be open between December 1, 2023, through March 1, 2024 to single individuals in Greater Hartford.
 
Families who need shelter should call 211 to receive assistance. 211 will connect families with The Salvation Army for triage and placement as available. The city will also coordinate daytime warming centers on days with frigid conditions.
